In 1968, Bert Cool relocated from Sydney to Wagga Wagga, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to the towing industry. He began his career at Bartholomew’s Truck Repairs as a Truck Tyre Fitter. Through dedication and a strong work ethic, Bert worked his way up to become a Tow Truck Driver.

A decade later, in 1978, Bert purchased the tow trucks from Bartholomew’s, which had by then been sold to Royans. This transition marked the beginning of Wagga Truck Towing. Thanks to his strong relationship with Royans, Bert continued working alongside Royans Wagga, establishing a trusted partnership that remains strong to this day.

By 1981, the business had grown significantly. Bert expanded the fleet with the purchase of a brand-new Mack Superliner, which he custom-built into a massive tri-axle Heavy Tow Truck . At the time, it was the largest tow truck in the Southern Hemisphere—a true milestone in Australian towing history.

Bert’s sons, Paul and Jimmy, grew up around tow trucks and naturally developed a passion for the industry. Jimmy later joined the business as a Heavy Tow Truck Driver, and together with Paul, they carried on the family legacy. The brothers continued to grow the fleet and began custom-building their own heavy tow trucks and specialised equipment.

Under Jimmy and Paul’s leadership, the business has embraced innovation, implementing the latest technology and equipment to stay ahead of the curve. Today, Wagga Truck Towing operates a fleet of over 30 vehicles, proudly leading the way in the heavy tow truck industry across the region.
